Mrs. Luella Hurst Twombly, age 98, of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away after a lengthy illness. Born on March 22, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York a daughter of the late Douglas and Lillian Ward Hurst.
Luella married Charles Edward Twombly, Jr. and the two shared 3 amazing sons together. Unfortunately, Charles life was cut short and he passed away January 9,1967 and was buried at Long Island National Cemetery with military rites accorded by the US Army. Luella continued to raise her family and later moved to Boynton Beach where she spent the rest of her life. Luella worked and retired from the New York Board of Education and upon moving to Florida she went back to work, working for Sears Holdings at K-Mart.
Luella will be cherished and remembered by her 3 sons and their wives, Charles “Chuck” and Laura Twombly, Jack and Susan Twombly, Thomas and Cindy Twombly; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
Luella will be laid to rest at the South Florida National Cemetery on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 1:00pm where her service will conclude with a dove release.
