Gloria Ann Jones-Walker, also known as “Nell”, was the daughter of Elizabeth Jones and the late David Jones Jr. She was born on January 29, 1960 in Pace, Mississippi. She was a 1977 graduate of Miami Southridge Senior High School and received her Associate’s Degree in Business Finance from Miami Dade College. Upon graduating, she spent twelve years as a loan-processing officer for Sun Trust Bank. Gloria loved working with numbers and anything that challenged her brain like crossword puzzles. She spent lots of time constructing thousand puzzle pieces and playing cards with her family, where she was a great “trash talker.”
Gloria was a devoted wife to Victor Walker, a wonderful mother to Victor Walker Jr. and Vanessa Chestnut, a very caring sister to her siblings: David, Mary, Bendy, Corl, and Jerry Jones, and an admiring mother-in-law to Jeantilia Walker and Jerome Chestnut. She also leaves four grandsons named Gecorry, Laurence, Jeremiah, and Wesley, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Honoring Mama… from your son and daughter.
Mama, you were a fighter and a great loving mother. You never quit, no matter how bad the situation was…We just want to say that we love you and you will always be in our hearts!
Honoring Mama…From your daughter-in-law.
I remember when you first told me “Baby, before I leave this world
I want you to marry my son and give me a grandchild.” In 2018, I honored both of her wishes. We love you and you will always be in our hearts. May you rest in peace.
Heaven Sent by Your Sister Bendy…
Gloria, you would do anything to make me smile. Nevertheless, you treated me like I was your child.
God blessed me with an angel of my own. Thank God for your hard work and loyalty.
Now I’m grown. No words can describe the love and memories too that come from having a sister just like you. I think of you in silence, I often call your name.
Now I have loving memories with our pictures in a frame.
Thank you for your loyalty and the path that you laid.
I will hold on to God’s hand and His word: DO NOT BE DISMAYED.
