Deborah Shiller, 65, of Hendersonville N.C., but "Florida Girl" for 50+years, and in heart, joined her two best friends(sisters Carolyn Boatwright and Regina "Diane" McGregor) and God, on February 28th, 2021. She passed peacefully, in her home and favorite place, after her hard battle with cancer. Cancer will never forget that fight.
Known as Deb, although she never liked that name, she was born on May 14th, 1955 to Flora Mae and the Clarence Merrell. She spent her early years climbing the N.C. mountains, camping, swimming, catching lizards, and helping raise her sister Diane. In high school, she was on the varsity basketball team, and was the prettiest cheerleader on the squad. Always a fashionista at heart, she went to cosmetology school and received her degree in 1984.
She loved cutting and styling hair, but after 20 years her hands could no longer take the hours. She took a job in beauty product sales, that turned into a highly successful, award-filled career in teaching. She taught sales techniques, taught product use, and helped make businesses very successful.
Teaching was her passion, but family was her true love. She is survived by her first-born Jamie Shiller, her second born Justin Shiller, and her three grandchildren, Savannah, Cole, and Ayrise Shiller. She was preceded by her father Clarence, mother Flora, brother Peewee Merrell, and sisters Carolyn and Diane. She taught her kids and grandchildren about life, loving each other, respect, hard work, being kind to strangers and those less fortunate, and to live life properly, to be free of regrets.
She loved traveling, seeing new places, and meeting new people. In her down time, she walked the beach at her house looking for shells, collected art, loved dinners with friends, but really enjoyed just sitting on her balcony drinking her favorite coffee. This world would be a far better place with more Deborah Shiller's in it. God truly gained an ANGEL in the early hours of this past Sunday.
